More likely than not, Ginko is out and active during the day. Since hunting him down every single time is probably annoying to most characters, there are a few options;

1. Contact via the Journals. Leave a message for Ginko to find once he checks the Journal again.
2. Leave a written note in his mailbox. He'll come back to sleep, usually...
3. Hunt him down for a private conversation. He's not really adverse to conversation, after all.
